Intel has just unveiled a new lineup of chip technologies for consumer and business-class laptops. Company officials says new Intel Centrino Duo processor technology gives consumer's laptops improved performance, energy efficiency, faster and better integrated wireless capabilities, and richer video and graphics than previous Intel-powered laptops. The new Intel Centrino Pro brand is for businesses-class laptops and features built-in IT manageability against security threats and computer downtime.
Included in the new release is Intel Turbo Memory, which, company officials say, helps improve start up and delivers quicker access to software. The company claims integrated Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N provides 802.11AGN WLAN can help increase download performance and wireless access range by up to five times for laptops connected to wireless “n” routers.
More than 230 Intel Centrino Duo and Intel Centrino Pro processor technology-based designs are expected to take advantage of these and other features this year.
At the heart of the new Intel Centrino Duo and Intel Centrino Pro processor technology-based notebooks is the next-generation of Intel's highly acclaimed Intel® Core™2 Duo processor, which is said to deliver breakthrough mobile performance and responsiveness for demanding business users and consumers. They report that users will experience improved performance when running multiple applications simultaneously such as downloading a video clip while doing a virus scan. Additional power management features will continue to enable users to have the great battery life they have come to expect with an Intel-based notebook PC.
In addition, the Mobile Intel® 965 Express chipset family with Intel® Clear Video Technology is designed to enable an enhanced high-definition video experience. Users can also share their content with family and friends via TV easier than before with Intel® TV Wizard, which is a simplified way to connect to HD-enabled TVs. A new suite of drivers delivers robust and outstanding Windows Vista Premium experience featuring Windows Aero.
For faster Internet delivery of digital content, the available Intel® Next-Gen Wireless-N provides 802.11AGN WLAN capability is allows users more freedom to do more, delivering up to five times the performance for such tasks as downloads and twice the wireless access range.
Intel® Turbo Memory is an optional feature, unique to Intel technology, that can reportedly access frequently used software applications twice as fast and reduce the amount of time it takes to turn on, or boot-up, a laptop by as much as 20 percent. In turn, these faster speeds are reported to save on power consumption and increase battery life.
